On August 31–September 1, 2026, the Consortium for Networking and Development (COND) organized a two-day Community Consultation Workshop on Ethiopia’s Transitional Justice process in Dessie. The consultation explored Transitional Justice concepts and Ethiopia’s Transitional Justice Policy while providing a safe space for participants to discuss community expectations, priorities, and challenges. Participants reflected on the roles of victims/IDPs, persons with disabilities, youth, women, religious leaders, and community elders in the successful implementation of Transitional Justice, emphasizing the need to support victims, enact the necessary proclamation to operationalize the policy, demonstrate strong political will by political actors, and ensure meaningful and inclusive community participation throughout the process
